This bed is juuuust right!

Last night, Dutch finally slept in his crib! We have been trying to put him in there for a while, but I think it was just too big for him. I have to admit, after a half hour of him being in his own room I told DJ I wanted him in our bedroom, but DJ said he was fine. He has been in our room since we got home from the hospital so it is nearing the time for him to be able to be in his room and for us to get a little more sleep. I really thought Dutch would only stay in his room for about an hour or so and then he would wake up and we would move. That was not the case! At 2:45am, I woke up in a panic wondering why he hadn't woken up yet - wasn't he at least hungry? I woke DJ up and told him I was worried. I went to check on him - still breathing and still sleeping away! Again at 3:45am, 4:30 and 5am, I did the same thing. I finally just got up and waited on him to wake up - which around 5:15, he did. Anyhow, we were excited that he finally decided to stay in his room and next time I will know to enjoy it more!

Today, I took Dutch to get his pictures made. We have some really good ones that I will post on here for everyone to see. Tonight, we are going to cook out with some friends and get ready for the lake tomorrow. Fun-filled weekend ahead!

Sip and See

This evening, DJ's boss hosted a Sip and See at his home for everyone at SYS to be able to meet Dutch. It was so nice of him to do that for us and we really enjoyed everything. Dutch did so well over there. We were unsure how he would act through the night because about an hour before we left the house he had a bit of a meltdown, but he was so good and calm. Now, of course, he is wide awake and alert...I just hope he wants to go to bed soon! We took some pictures of the evening and a few more once we got home.

What's that you say...9lbs 13oz???

Today, DJ and I took Dutch to the doctor for his one month check up and also to receive his Hep B vaccination (which he DID NOT like). The doctor says he is perfect, weighing 9 lbs., 13 oz!!! He is also measuring 22.5 inches long. He is growing so fast and surprisingly to us, weighing more than we expected - at least we know he is not starving for food! We weren't sure how he would do with the shot, but he absolutely hated it - turned bright red for a good while! It was heart-wrenching to see his face and hear a cry we were unfamilair with (the pain cry), but after daddy held him for a minute or two, all that faded. He is now snoozing away, at least until the next feeding and forgetting about the horrible doctor's visit!

One month, already???

Well, I am posting this late, but our little man is now one month old! Hard to believe it has been that long since he arrived - it really seems like yesterday. He is getting so big and is so much more alert these days. We are enjoying every second with him! He LOVES spending time outside, riding in the car (always sleeps!) and bathtime. He makes some of the cutest facial expressions when he is sleeping and we are anxiously awaiting the day he smiles back at us or laughs.

This past weekend, we had a lot going on! Friday night I joined my girlfriends, Leah and Amy, for a little Mexican food while DJ stayed home with Dutch. I love seeing them and catching up - it is also nice to get out and do something different than what my everyday schedule allows. On Saturday, DJ and I helped host a shower for Kelley and AJ. It was nice to see all of our friends that we have not seen in a while and we had a great time. Mimi and Pop (my parents) babysat for us (many thanks!) and were able to spend some time with Dutch. On Sunday, we went to Gran's house (DJ's mom) and had dinner with some family visiting from Florida. It was Chery and Hank's first time meeting Dutch and we are glad we got to visit with them while they were here.

I have posted some pictures from this past weekend and today.

Happy Father's Day!

We hope everyone had a nice weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! DJ decided for his first Father's Day he wanted for Dutch and I to join him on a fishing trip to Lake Hartwell. I was a little nervous at first, but actually the whole day went really well. Of course, if you know DJ well you know that he likes to go fishing at 4 or 5am, so that meant getting everyone up at the crack of dawn! We got to the lake around 6:30am (a little off schedule) and off we went. The weather was so nice with the temperature around 70 degrees. Dutch and I pretty much slept all morning while DJ was busy fishing! Once the temperature started climbing, we decided to meet family at their lake house and spend some time indoors. We had such a great time and DJ was so proud that he was able to take the little guy fishing.

Here are a couple of pics from our trip...

Oh, so in love!

Well, the new addition to our family has finally arrived. Dennis "Dutch" John Doherty was born May 21, 2008 at 3:14pm weighing 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 21 in. long. DJ and I are adjusting to parenthood and the new schedule that it brings, but wouldn't change it for anything in the world. Actually, he is a great baby and usually will sleep through the night with one or two feedings in between. We are so blessed to have such a precious baby in our lives!!! Because of his arrival, DJ's sister, Meghan, came to town for the whole week! It was so nice to see her and have her meet Dutch - by the time she sees him again he will be 3 months old and will have changed so much.

Also, we are so excited for our friends Jenna and Stephen. They welcomed their new baby boy, Cash Charles Metherell, on May 28, 2008. It is so nice that the two boys will be so close in age. I hope they will have the kind of friendship that DJ and I have with the two of them.

As for us, it is that time of year again - weddings and showers. We have a few coming up and it will be nice to get out of the house and do some "grown-up" things after being in the house for a couple of weeks.

Anyhow, I have posted some pics of the little guy while we were in the hospital and a few more once we arrived home. Enjoy!
